Levitan said that he thought Twitter and the internet could aid in the building of a brand, but that if too much time is spent focussing on the website or other content, “you’ll take your eye off the ball” and the show itself might fail, and that’s the worst thing that could happen.
Braun said that this was because TV producers were still judged based on the ratings of the TV shows when aired. But he said that they would be judged on all aspects surrounding production in the long run.
Levitan expressed his ambivalence about Hulu, saying that it had taken him a long time to discover that top episodes on Hulu had a viewership of about 2 million. He was however disappointed to find that no credit went to the producers. It would really boost ratings if the 2 million viewers watched the show when it aired. He expressed fears that Hulu would reduce the chances of networks being able to pay for the production costs of expensive shows.
The networks have no choice but to support Hulu, Braun said, otherwise people will be pirating the content.
While Braun seemed much more positive about internet content, Levitan on the other hand said that at present, doing things only for the internet (such as on “Funny or Die”) were mere hobbies than avenues to earn extra money. On the contrary, scripted television doesn’t work on the internet or mobile, Braun said, but instead people were on the look out for other types of entertainment that work online. Braun talked about developing Wonderwall and Glow for the internet and how this was developing a larger audience.
At present, the most talented people want to work in traditional media and can make money online as this is where both the money and the best talent is found, Levitan concluded.

Award Nomination For Online Business Entrepreneur
Dawn Windsor has received a nomination for one of the Women Business Owners of Manitoba’s prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
Always saying that her children are not only her reason for being, Dawn Windsor says they are also her reason for being in business to make money online.
Windsor recently moved to Transcona from St. Vital, and is among 23 finalists for the Women Business Owners of Manitoba’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
The awards are in recognition for the outstanding contributions of Manitoba’s women in business. Windsor could not believe it when she heard of her nomination.
She said “Of course, I’m very familiar with WBOM and when I saw that name on my call display I wondered why they would be calling me.”
“I was floored when I found out I’d been nominated. It was a very humbling phone call and it felt so nice to be recognized at all for what I’ve done.”
Windsor made the decision to begin her own business and make money online almost five years ago because of her two young children Kenny and Faith. Windsor finally accepted that she did not want to go back to work and leave her children as the maternity leave she had earned after Kenny’s birth was running out and she needed to earn extra money.
“It was terrible trying to find a way to stay at home but still have an income,” Windsor said, noting she was horrified by the number of obvious scams courting women in her position when she browsed online for ideas on how to earn extra money.
“Finally I saw an ad on Kijiji for a personal assistant that said about 90% of the work would be done at home. So I submitted a resume, and I got it.”
